This, as the city received for the fourth time the highest audit for public institutions from the Commission on Audit (COA).

In COA’s 2018 report, Navotas City “has secured an unqualified opinion,” the public information office said.

The unqualified opinion is being given by the agency to a government office or agency that has presented its financial position, financial performance, and cash flow in a fair manner and in accordance with the Philippine Public Sector Accounting Standards, the PIO added.

For the past four years, since during the term of then-mayor and now Rep. John Rey Tiangco, the city has been receiving the same award from the audit department.

Navotas City is the only local government unit in the National Capital Region (NCR) to receive the said award for four consecutive times, the PIO said.

“Let this year’s unqualified opinion inspire us to continue the judicious and prudent spending of people’s taxes and give them the best service they deserve,” the city’s chief executive, who recently assumed his post, told the city’s local governments employees.

Rep. Tiangco, meanwhile, added that they “are honored to receive [their] fourth unqualified opinion.”

“I commend all the departments and offices of the city government for their committed and honest service to the people of Navotas,” the congressman said.
