Navotas City Representative Toby M.  Tiangco, thru his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), supported the M-CART (Mobile Computer-Aided Reinforcement for Teaching) Project of Navotas National High School, by providing eight (8) overhead projectors for the benefit of its less than 4,000 populace.

The project, which gave the title “Most  Transformative School for Learning Effectiveness and School Efficiency” to the said school during the Excellence in Educational Transformation Awards held at  Garden Ballroom, EDSA Shangrila Hotel last April 16, 2013, is developed by Dra.  Maria Cristina Robles, NNHS Principal, and her faculty to provide their students with immediate access to information and learning modules.

Dra. Robles said, “NNHS teachers wrote their lessons on manila paper as the visual aid. However, we later find it inefficient and unadvisable to use in a class with more than 80 students as the students at the back no longer see what was written. And by the time the teacher taught his or her fourth class, the manila paper was already crumpled.”

The M-CART project was then born as two science teachers decided to use their laptops and address the problem.

Accordingly, the students responded well to the powerpoint presentations and videos.

In a short message during the turnover ceremony of said equipment, Cong. Tiangco said “education has always been one of my priority projects as I believe that it is key to success. We are lucky  that this project, which will be able to encourage alternative and  participative learning, was approved and funded under our PDAF.”

M-CART lessons were now developed for all subject areas of NNHS, supporting the modified in-school / out-of-school scheme adapted by Dra. Robles where students came to school three days a week and spent two days of schooling at home.
